The Shield Knot is deemed to be an ancient Celtic symbol of protection and was placed either on battle fields or near ill people as a means of warding off evil spirits or other dangers. Warrior would carry this symbol with them as protection on necklaces and shields. This horn is hand carved from all natural horn. A beautifully crafted brass band with Celtic weave lines the lip. The tip has a carved crocodile that is made from genuine brass. It has been polished inside and out. A food safe sealant coats the interior of the horn.
